Having selected the capabilities you wish to develop look at the indicators and consider which stage you are working at.  There are a number of ways you can do this:

  • Assessing yourself
  • Seeking feedback from others such as people using your service, your colleagues and your manager.
  • During supervision

Here is an example of Tom using a Talking Mat to select staff who he would like to be with in two contrasting scenarios. It illustrates a method for gaining feedback about staff qualities and capabilities. This feedback could lead to evidence of a developmental need and as evidence for the descriptors of the Personal Capabilities
