About this app

The Scottish Social Services Council has developed a free smartphone app that uses 360° video to help you experience and understand what it feels like to receive care and support from someone. Whether you are completely new to this type of role or have some experience, we put you at the heart of different scenarios so you can see how these look from the point of view of someone receiving care.

The app is designed to be used with light-weight passive viewers that are cheap to buy and readily available. It has also been recorded in surround sound, so if you attach and wear stereo earphones (buds), you can get a true 360° experience.

We developed this app to help people in care roles understand how it feels to be a person receiving care. If you are considering becoming a carer, or have more experience in a care role, the app should help you to enhance your empathy for people you are supporting.

This app can also be used to gather evidence for your Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) for registration (if this applies to you) and enables you to record your experience, which can then be added easily to your account if you are using our MyLearning app.
