In a digital world the expectations of social service employers, the workforce and people who use services are changing. It’s becoming more and more important that workers are suitably equipped by developing their digital capabilities.
We believe that:
- the workforce should be enabled to take advantage of the huge range of learning opportunities provided by digital learning
- we must work to avoid the emergence of a two-tier workforce, that is, those who apply their digital capabilities to everyday learning and practice and those who ‘don’t do technology’
- people who use services should expect and be enabled to take advantage of the digital opportunities in society in a safe manner
- a skilled and confident workforce needs to develop its own digital capabilities in order to support people to do this.
We have developed this free, online resource to help social service workers develop their digital capabilities to support learning and practice.
